Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable ELT/ETL pipelines using Databricks (Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Workflows) and Snowflake.

  • Lead the migration and modernization of legacy data warehouses into a unified lakehouse architecture.

  • Implement data modeling best practices including star/snowflake schemas, dimensional modeling, and data vault when needed.

  • Optimize Databricks clusters, Snowflake warehouses, and storage for performance and cost (auto-suspend, query acceleration, clustering keys, etc.).

  • Build and orchestrate pipelines with tools such as dbt, Azure Data Factory, Fivetran, Airflow, or Databricks Workflows.

  • Implement CI/CD for data assets (GitOps, testing, schema evolution, monitoring).

  • Partner with data analysts, scientists, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into clean, trusted datasets.

  • Enforce data governance, security (RBAC, dynamic masking, encryption), and compliance standards.

  • Troubleshoot incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and drive long-term remediation.

Job requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of hands-on data engineering experience.

  • Expert-level proficiency with Databricks (notebooks, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Workflows) and Snowflake (Snowpark, Streams/Tasks, cloning, performance tuning).

  • Strong Python, Spark (PySpark/Spark SQL), and advanced SQL; Scala is a bonus.

  • Deep experience with dbt (Core or Cloud), Azure Data Factory, Fivetran, or similar modern tooling.

  • Proven track record designing and delivering lakehouse or modern data warehouse solutions in Azure (preferred) or AWS/GCP.

  • Solid grasp of data security, governance, and compliance (GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2, etc.).

  • CI/CD for data pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Terraform, etc.).

  • Agile/Scrum experience and fluency with Jira or Azure Boards.

  • Excellent communication skills — you can explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Bonus points: Databricks Certified Data Engineer Professional, Snowflake SnowPro Advanced, consulting background, Power BI or Tableau experience.

Compensation

The annual salary range for this position is from $140,000 - $170,000 depending on overall skillset and experience.
