Responsibilities:
Design, build, and maintain scalable ELT/ETL pipelines using Databricks (Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Workflows) and Snowflake.
Lead the migration and modernization of legacy data warehouses into a unified lakehouse architecture.
Implement data modeling best practices including star/snowflake schemas, dimensional modeling, and data vault when needed.
Optimize Databricks clusters, Snowflake warehouses, and storage for performance and cost (auto-suspend, query acceleration, clustering keys, etc.).
Build and orchestrate pipelines with tools such as dbt, Azure Data Factory, Fivetran, Airflow, or Databricks Workflows.
Implement CI/CD for data assets (GitOps, testing, schema evolution, monitoring).
Partner with data analysts, scientists, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into clean, trusted datasets.
Enforce data governance, security (RBAC, dynamic masking, encryption), and compliance standards.
Troubleshoot incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and drive long-term remediation.
Job requirements
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
5+ years of hands-on data engineering experience.
Expert-level proficiency with Databricks (notebooks, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Workflows) and Snowflake (Snowpark, Streams/Tasks, cloning, performance tuning).
Strong Python, Spark (PySpark/Spark SQL), and advanced SQL; Scala is a bonus.
Deep experience with dbt (Core or Cloud), Azure Data Factory, Fivetran, or similar modern tooling.
Proven track record designing and delivering lakehouse or modern data warehouse solutions in Azure (preferred) or AWS/GCP.
Solid grasp of data security, governance, and compliance (GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2, etc.).
CI/CD for data pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Terraform, etc.).
Agile/Scrum experience and fluency with Jira or Azure Boards.
Excellent communication skills — you can explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Bonus points: Databricks Certified Data Engineer Professional, Snowflake SnowPro Advanced, consulting background, Power BI or Tableau experience.
Compensation
The annual salary range for this position is from $140,000 - $170,000 depending on overall skillset and experience.
